Lunch: The Whitney is currently not serving Lunch, we will re-open for lunch in the autumn.
High Tea Monday through Friday at 2:00 with a 48 advance reservation.
Dinner: Monday-Thursday 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Friday and Saturday 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Sunday 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Brunch: Sunday 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Ghost Bar Hours: Ghostbar opens for Cocktails and light hors de oeuvres Monday - Saturday at 5:00, The Ghostbar is not open on Sunday.
Oyster Hour: Monday through Saturday 5:00PM - 7:00PM

Do we need a reservation?
A reservation is suggested, however we always try to accommodate walk-ins.
May I request a specific room or table?
We will attempt to accommodate all table requests. Private rooms may be available for larger parties. Please alert our hostess to any special requests when making the reservation.
What is your policy on cell phones?
We ask that you please silence your phones when dining and, if needed, to complete calls in the lobby or on the porch.
Does The Whitney enforce a Dress Code?
We recommend business casual attire. The Whitney does not require jackets for men, but we prefer collared shirts to check your caps when dining in the mansion. Additionally, please refrain from wearing tattered jeans, shorts, sports jerseys, tennis shoes, sneakers or sandals in the dining rooms.
Does The Whitney do anything special for birthdays?
We can arrange for birthday candles, the name of the birthday person, or a unique design to be incorporated in your dessert selection. Our reservation staff will be happy to provide details.
Is there a charge for valet?
The Whitney is a valet only restaurant. The Whitney charges a nominal fee of $8.00 for valet for evening services, $5.00 for daytime services including Sunday brunch. A gratuity is suggested.
Does The Whitney offer a shuttle to Detroit events and attractions?
Yes, by special arrangement only. Please inquire when booking your reservation. We are also happy to help arrange private transportation and guests are welcome to leave their cars in our valet lot during outside events. Please be sure to find out what time our lot will be closing on the day of your reservation.
What can I expect to pay?
Lunch is priced between $9 - $29
Dinner is priced between $22 - $45 with most selections in the $20's and low $30's.
How far in the future may I make my reservation?
The Whitney takes reservations anytime up to a year in advance for large groups reservations. It is recommended that individual reservations reserve at least two weeks before the reservation date. Signed contracts and applicable deposits may be required to hold large group reservations. Please contact our sales and marketing department at 313-832-5700 for group reservation details. Walk-ins are always welcome.
Does The Whitney offer vegetarian dishes?
Yes, The Whitney will always have a vegetarian entrée on the menu.
Does The Whitney cater outside events?
Yes, The Whitney can support all of your event needs. Please refer to the catering and private dining sections of the website for more detail. Our chefs will accommodate any and all dietary requests. Do not hesitate to call in advance with any concerns.
What days does The Whitney close for business?
Generally, Memorial Day, The Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Day and New Years Day. Please contact us regarding specific holiday closings.
When may I use a coupon or other promotional discount?
Every coupon or discount promotion clearly states the valid dates for usage. Once expired, these discounts are no longer valid. Read your discount promotion carefully for terms and conditions. Only one discount or promotion may be used at any single visit to The Whitney per table or per group.
Can I bring my own food and/or beverage to The Whitney?
The only outside food we allow is special occasion cakes and cupcakes. There will be a cake service fee involved. Please note The Whitney is happy to provide you with one of our specialty cakes. Please contact us for pricing and information. Michigan law prohibits guests from bringing in alcoholic beverages.
Can we schedule High Tea for Saturday, or another time of day?
We serve High Tea at 2:00 on Monday through Friday only. If you have a large (10 or more) group, we can make special arrangements.
Can we just come in and walk around the Mansion?
You are welcome to stroll the Mansion when you’re visiting us for Brunch or Dinner, but we limit access to planned tours during non-business hours.
What's the Champagne Tour like?
You will be guided through the entire Mansion by a knowledgeable member of our staff and given information on the Whitney Family, the History of the building and it's uses through the years. Champagne (or Non-Alcoholic Champagne) is served at the start of the Tour.
How big does my group need to be to open for a Private Lunch?
Generally 20-25+, but feel free to call our event coordinator, Samantha Cesarz, for specifics.
Why did The Whitney close for lunch?
The Whitney opens for lunch every autumn, and typically closes in the Winter, we are excited to offer High Tea this year for afternoon diners.
